Bread-and-butter Pudding
Ingredients
Directions
Butter a pie dish.
Wash the currants and sultanas, then dry them perfectly.
Layer bread-and-butter in the bottom of the dish.
Sprinkle a layer of currants and a little brown sugar, and nutmeg if desired.
Repeat layers until the dish is full, avoiding currants on the top layer.
Beat the egg until frothy.
Gradually add the milk to the egg and pour it over the pudding.
Place small lumps of butter on top.
Prepare the pudding a few hours before baking for better flavor.
