  1. Mince the cold meat, bacon or ham, and anchovy finely.

  2. Season with pepper and salt, then mix well.

  3. Form the mixture into small cakes, each three inches long, one and a half inches wide, and half an inch thick.

  4. Fry the cakes in a pan until they are light brown.

  5. Serve with gravy or place in a mold to boil or bake.
