What each ingredient does

Roast beef
Provides the main filling, and its fat keeps the minced meat moist and flavourful.
Flour
Forms the paste that encloses the filling and bakes into a sturdy, browned crust.
Mushroom gravy
Moistens the minced meat so the filling stays juicy inside the baked crust.

The step that matters

Leave space at the edges of each sheet. Filling too close to the edge can prevent the paste from sealing properly, so the patty may open or leak during baking. Clear edges let the crimped seal hold.

Swap the nutmeg

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (beef, pepper, mushroom, flour):

  1. Thymefits better
  2. Marjoramfits better
  3. Turmericfits better
  4. Nutmegthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against beef, pepper, mushroom, flour. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
