Bread Boxes

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Cut bread slices into cubes, 3 inches thick.

  2. Use a fork to remove crumbs from the center, forming a box.

  3. Spread softened butter on the sides of each box.

  4. Place the boxes on an inverted pan in the oven at 400°F (200°C) until crisp and golden brown.

  5. Fill the boxes with your choice of filling.
