Orange Cake

Oven, in the book's wordsA moderate oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until well combined.

  3. Gradually add the beaten eggs, mixing well.

  4. Stir in the flour, baking powder, orange juice, and grated orange rind.

  5. Pour the batter into a prepared cake tin.

  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Once cool, split the cake and spread with orange filling.

  8. Cover the top with orange water icing and decorate with glace fruits.
