Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Stale bread
Forms the crisp crumb coating that browns and protects the chop during frying.
Eggs
Act as a binder that helps the crumbs adhere to the chops.

The step that matters

Frying the coated chops. The fat must be hot enough to brown the crumb coating quickly. If it is too cool, the bread absorbs fat and turns greasy before it crisps, and the coating can slip off the meat.

Swap the currant

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (bread, pepper, egg):

  1. Lemonfits better
  2. Figfits better
  3. Red currantfits better
  4. Currantthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against bread, pepper, egg. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
