Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rice
Absorbs the broth and softens, forming the body of the dish.
Chicken
Provides the main protein, tenderised by gentle boiling in the broth.
Onion
Releases sweetness and savoury depth into the broth as it cooks.

The step that matters

Steaming the rice over low heat. Rice needs gentle, even steam to finish cooking without turning mushy or scorching. Too much heat can break the grains and dry the bottom while the top stays firm.
