Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Raspberries
Provide the flavour and the juice that forms the body of the ice.
Sugar
Sweetens the ice and lowers its freezing point so it stays soft rather than rock-hard.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the raspberry flavour.

The step that matters

Dissolving the sugar syrup fully before mixing. Sugar dissolved in water lowers the freezing point and controls ice crystal size. If the syrup is undercooked or not fully combined with the juice, the ice can freeze hard and grainy.

Swap the raspberry

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (lemon, sugar):

  1. Orangefits better
  2. Limefits better
  3. Vanillafits better
  4. Raspberrythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against lemon, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
