Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cream
Provides rich fat and body, giving the set dessert its creamy texture.
Sugar
Sweetens the cream to taste and balances the richness.
Gelatine
Forms the gel network that sets the mixture as it chills.
Vanilla bean
Adds aromatic vanilla flavor infused into the liquid.

The step that matters

Stir the gelatine mixture quickly into the sweetened cream. Gelatine begins to set as it cools, so if it is cooled too much before mixing it can form lumps or streaks instead of blending evenly into the cream.
