Ingredients

Directions

  1. Arrange lady-fingers diagonally around the sides of a deep conical pan.

  2. Form a star or rosette at the bottom with additional lady-fingers.

  3. If desired, mold the cake into a fort shape and insert lady-fingers to represent cannons.

  4. Top with darts or arrows made of isinglass and jelly.

  5. For decoration, use a full slice of pineapple divided into eighths, filled with whipped cream.

  6. Brush edges where cake joins with hot syrup or egg white to secure.

  7. Optionally, brush the interior with egg white for firmness.

  8. If using eggs in the cream, whip them first.

  9. For individual servings, use small molds instead.
