Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Fresh sweet cream
Provides the fat and richness that give the ice cream its smooth, creamy texture.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream softer and scoopable.
Whipped cream
Adds air and extra fat, making the finished ice cream lighter and smoother.

The step that matters

Adding the whipped cream at half frozen. If the base is too liquid or too solid, the whipped cream will not blend in evenly. Mixing it in while the base is partly frozen keeps the air bubbles distributed and prevents the cream from deflating or leaving streaks.
