Mince Pies

Oven, in the book's wordsA moderately hot oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderately hot oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Roll out the puff paste to about ¼ inch thick.

  2. Line large patty pans with the rolled paste.

  3. Fill the lined pans with mincemeat.

  4. Cover with more paste, brush lightly with cold water, and sprinkle with castor sugar.

  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.

  6. Serve hot or cold.
