Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Heavy cream
Provides fat and body, giving the ice cream a rich, smooth texture.
Pineapples
Supply the main fruit flavor and a bright acidity that cuts the richness of the cream.
Powdered sugar
Sweetens the fruit and draws out juice to form syrup, which softens the frozen texture.

The step that matters

Stir the pineapple squares in when the cream is half frozen. If added too early the pieces sink and settle unevenly. If added too late they freeze into hard clumps and do not spread through the ice cream.

Swap the pineapple

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Pineapplethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sugar. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
