Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Red tomatoes
Firm flesh forms the edible shell that holds the stuffing and keeps the hollow shape.
Cucumbers
Adds moisture and a cool, crisp texture to the filling.
Spring onions
Contributes a sharp, fresh aroma and bite to the filling.
Bell peppers
Adds crunch and mild sweetness to the stuffing.
French salad dressing or mayonnaise
Adds fat and tang, moistening and seasoning the stuffed tomatoes.

The step that matters

Blanching the tomatoes for 1 minute. A brief dip in boiling water loosens the skin so it peels cleanly without cooking the flesh. Longer heating softens the tomato, making it likely to collapse when cut and stuffed.
