Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Strip off one-third of the skin from each banana and loosen the remaining skin with a spoon.

  3. Arrange the bananas in a baking pan with the stripped side facing up.

Bake

  1. Place a piece of butter on each banana and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of water.

  2. Bake for about 20 minutes.

What each ingredient does

Bananas
Provide the main body and sweetness, softening as they bake in their skins.
Butter
Adds fat that enriches flavour and helps the bananas brown as they bake.
