Jelly Kisses
Ingredients
Directions
The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Shape the kisses into half-egg forms on stiff letter paper in a thick baking pan.
Bake until the outside is slightly hardened.
Carefully remove one kiss, scoop out the soft inside with a spoon, and return it to the mixture.
Lay the shell down and repeat with another kiss.
Fill the shells with currant jelly or jam and join two together using some of the mixture.
Continue until you have enough kisses.
For added beauty, tint half of them pale pink and then combine white and pink.
Serve on a high glass dish.
