Place jars in a wash boiler and add cold water until it nearly reaches the top of the jars.
Stand the jars on pieces of berry boxes for safety.
Process
Boil the water for 20 minutes.

What each ingredient does
- Strawberries
- Provide the main fruit flavor and the soft texture of the finished preserve.
- Sugar
- Sweetens the berries and balances their natural tartness.
The step that matters
Boiling the jars. The contents must be heated long enough for the heat to reach the center of each jar. Boiling for the full 20 minutes with the water covering the jars helps the fruit heat through evenly, so the sealed jars keep well.
