What each ingredient does

Fresh spinach leaves
Forms the bulk of the mold and provides the green flavor and body.
Butter
Adds fat and richness, giving the spinach a smooth, silky texture.
Powdered sugar
Adds a little sweetness that balances the earthy flavor of the spinach.
Hard-boiled eggs
Served as a garnish, adding mild richness and contrast in color and texture.

The step that matters

Press out all the water. Spinach holds a lot of water, and any left behind makes the mixture loose and watery, so it will not hold its shape when turned out of the mold.
