Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut the stale sponge or plain cup cake into rounds using a cake cutter.

  2. Fry the rounds in sweet lard until they are a nice brown.

  3. Dip each round in boiling milk to soften and remove excess grease.

  4. Layer the rounds on a hot dish and spread with sweet jelly or jam.

  5. Stack them neatly on top of each other.

  6. Serve hot with sweetened cream to pour over them.
