Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Fresh spinach leaves
Forms the main body of the dish, becoming a smooth, moldable purée when chopped and cooked down.
Butter
Adds fat and richness, giving the spinach a smoother mouthfeel and a rounded flavor.
Hard-boiled eggs
Provide a mild, firm contrast in texture and flavor as the sliced garnish.

The step that matters

Cook until nearly dry. Spinach holds a lot of water; if it is not cooked down enough, the mixture stays loose and will not hold its shape when molded and turned out.
