Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Beef bouillon
Forms the flavorful liquid base of the soup.
Eggs
Bind the dough and give the noodles structure and richness.
Flour
Forms the gluten network that gives the dough its structure.
Milk
Adds moisture that helps the dough come together and stay tender.

The step that matters

Rolling and drying the dough. The dough must be stiff and rolled very thin, then left to dry for 2 hours so it firms up. A damp or thick dough can stick and tear or cook gummy when cut into rings.

Swap the nutmeg

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (beef, egg, milk, flour):

  1. Nutmegthe original
  2. Cinnamonfits about as well
  3. Jalapenofits less well
  4. Turmericfits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against beef, egg, milk, flour. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
