Oyster Loaves

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Cut a round piece out of the top of each loaf and scoop out the soft part.

  2. In a pot, combine the oyster liquor, bread crumbs, chopped celery, and butter.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then pour it over the oysters to cook them.

  4. Fill each loaf with the cooked oysters and add a teaspoon of cream.

  5. Replace the top crust on each loaf and bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for a few minutes.
