Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Line a pie plate with the pie crust.

Fill and bake

  1. In a bowl, mix the rhubarb, sugar, flour, and egg until well combined.

  2. Pour the mixture into the pie plate.

  3. Cover with a thin crust, pressing the edges together.

  4. Bake for 40 minutes.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Rhubarb
Provides the tart flavor and bulk that the filling is built around.
Sugar
Sweetens the filling and balances the tartness of the rhubarb.
Egg
Binds the filling so it sets into a sliceable texture when baked.
Flour
Thickens the juices released by the rhubarb so the filling holds together.
