Butter Beans

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut off the ends of the pods and remove strings from both sides.

  2. Slice each bean lengthwise into two or three strips.

  3. Soak the beans in cold water for 30 minutes.

  4. Boil the beans in boiling water until tender, about 3 hours.

  5. Once tender, add milk, a large piece of butter, salt, and pepper.

  6. To thicken, mix flour with a little water until smooth, then gradually add more water to thin it out.

  7. Stir the mixture while pouring it in to avoid lumps.
