Mock Fish-balls

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Coat the balls in the beaten egg, then roll them in fine bread crumbs.

  2. Bake the balls in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) until they are a nice brown.

  3. Wash the fresh lettuce leaves and dry them carefully with a cloth.

  4. Arrange the lettuce leaves on a plate and pile the baked balls on top.

  5. For serving, place a lettuce leaf on an individual dish and add a ball on top.

  6. Serve with a white gravy if desired.
