Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a steady oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together.

  2. Add 3 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  3. Add the remaining 4 eggs, 2 at a time, beating for 5 minutes between each addition.

  4. Sift the flour and baking powder together, then add to the mixture.

  5. Bake in a steady oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50 minutes.
