Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Peel the apples and prepare the pastry.

  3. Divide the pastry into pieces equal to the number of apples.

  4. Roll out each piece and cut two rounds from each.

  5. Place an apple on one round, cover with the other, and seal the edges.

  6. Tie each dumpling in a cloth and boil them until cooked.

  7. For baked dumplings, place them in a buttered dish instead of tying in cloths and bake until golden.
