What each ingredient does

Thick sweet cream
Provides fat and richness, and whips into a light, creamy body.
Strawberries
Supply the fruit flavour and juice that gives the cream its colour and tang.
Granulated sugar
Draws juice out of the berries and sweetens the fruit before it is added.
White sugar
Sweetens the cream and helps give the frozen dessert a smooth texture.

The step that matters

Whipping the cream until frothy. Over-whipping cream turns it grainy and can separate it into butter, while under-whipping leaves it too thin to hold air. Stopping at a frothy stage keeps the texture light and smooth.
