Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Heavy cream
Whipped into a froth to give the dessert its light, airy body.
Powdered sugar
Sweetens the cream and dissolves easily into it without graininess.
Grated pineapple
Adds fruity flavour and acidity that brightens the sweet cream.
Gelatin
Sets the whipped cream so it holds its shape when chilled.

The step that matters

Stirring the strained gelatin into the cream. Gelatin must be fully dissolved in hot water and mixed in evenly while the cream is cold. If it cools or clumps before blending, it forms lumps or uneven setting instead of a smooth, uniformly firm cream.
