Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatin
Sets the liquid chocolate cream into a firm, sliceable texture as it cools.
Chocolate
Provides the main flavor and, once cooled, helps give the dessert a rich, firm body.
Cream
Adds fat and moisture, making the set dessert smooth and creamy rather than brittle.
Sugar
Sweetens the chocolate and balances its natural bitterness.

The step that matters

Pour the hot mixture over the soaked gelatin.. Gelatin must be fully softened in cold water before heat is added, then dissolved in the warm mixture. Stirring until no granules remain ensures even setting without rubbery or grainy spots.
