Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Layer the pie

  1. Layer the bottom of a pie dish with veal and ham slices alternately.

  2. Season with mushrooms, parsley, pepper, and salt, then add a little gravy.

  3. Arrange the chicken pieces neatly in the dish and place slices of hard boiled egg in each cavity.

  4. Repeat the seasoning and sauce, then add thin slices of dressed ham on top.

Bake

  1. Cover the pie with puff pastry, decorating with leaf shapes cut from the pastry.

  2. Brush the top with beaten egg and bake for 1.5 hours.
