Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.

  3. Layer thinly sliced raw potatoes in the dish.

  4. Season with coarse sea salt, black pepper, and bits of butter.

  5. Repeat layers until the dish is full.

  6. Pour sweet milk or cream into the dish until half or two-thirds full.

  7. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the top.

  8. Bake for 1 hour.
