Mutton Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Layer the sliced cold roast mutton in a buttered baking dish.

  3. Add the cold gravy and currant jelly, then dredge with a little flour.

  4. Cover with paste or a crust of cold rice or mashed potato.

  5. If there isn't enough gravy, add a little water.

  6. Season with pepper, coarse sea salt, and add a piece of butter on top.

  7. Bake for 45 minutes.
