Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Bread crumbs
Absorb juices from the filling and keep the stuffing moist and light.
Pork
Adds fat and richness, keeping the stuffing juicy as it cooks.
Bacon fat
Bastes the fish with fat, helping the skin brown and stay moist.
Onion
Adds savory flavor to the stuffing as it softens and sweetens in the oven.

The step that matters

Close the fish with a skewer. A securely closed cavity keeps the stuffing inside during baking. Loose stuffing can dry out or fall away, and the filling needs to cook through with the fish.

Swap the onion

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (fish, bread, pork, pepper):

  1. Capsicumfits better
