Raised Cornmeal Bread

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal and slowly pour in the boiling water while stirring continuously until smooth.

  2. Add the lard or butter, molasses, and salt. Stir well and let the mixture cool.

  3. Once lukewarm, dissolve the yeast in the warm water and add it to the mixture.

  4. Incorporate enough bread flour to form a stiff dough. Knead well and place in a warm area to rise.

  5. The next morning, knead the dough again and place it in bread pans to rise before baking.
