Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Sugar
Sweetens the juice and lowers its freezing point so the frappé stays soft and scoopable.
Lemons
Add acidity that balances the sweetness and brightens the pineapple flavour.
Pineapple
Provides the main fruit flavour and juice for the frappé.

The step that matters

Freeze until mushy. Freezing should stop before the mixture turns solid. Sugar and acid keep the mixture partly liquid, so it forms fine ice crystals with a slushy texture rather than a hard block.

Swap the pineapple

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, lemon):

  1. Orangefits better
  2. Limefits better
  3. Vanillafits better
