Scalloped Onions

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Boil onions in water until tender.

  2. Sprinkle the bottom of a buttered baking dish with bread crumbs.

  3. Layer onions over the crumbs and repeat until the dish is full, finishing with crumbs on top.

  4. Moisten with some of the milk or water used for boiling the onions.

  5. Dot with bits of butter and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes.
