Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set the timbales into a firm, sliceable custard as they bake.
Green corn
Provides the main body, sweetness and moisture of the timbales.
Cracker crumbs
Absorb liquid and give the mixture body so it holds together.

The step that matters

Bake the molds in a water bath. Setting the molds in boiling water surrounds the custard with gentle, even heat. This keeps the eggs from overcooking and turning rubbery or curdled at the edges.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, corn):

  1. Nutmegfits better
  2. Tarragonfits better
  3. Dillfits about as well
  4. Parsleythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, corn. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
