Meat-potato Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Chop the cold meat into small pieces and place it in a deep pie plate.

  3. Season the meat with salt, pepper, and catsup or chili sauce.

  4. Pour any gravy over the seasoned meat.

  5. Spread a layer of mashed potatoes over the meat and gravy.

  6. Dot the top with small pieces of butter and sprinkle with bread or cracker crumbs.

  7. Score the top with a knife in squares and bake until well-browned.

  8. Serve directly from the dish.
