Wax From Honey-comb

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the honeycomb in a coarse strainer-cloth bag and pack it down tightly.

  2. Put the bag in a kettle and cover it completely with water.

  3. Add a weight if necessary to keep the bag submerged.

  4. Heat the water, turning the bag occasionally.

  5. As the comb melts, the wax will rise to the top of the water.

  6. Dip the wax off into a vessel of cold water as it rises.

  7. Continue adding water to keep the bag covered.

  8. Press the bag occasionally until no more wax rises.

  9. Allow the wax to cool on the surface of the cold water.
