Chicken Pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Remove the skin from the chicken and cut it into nice pieces.

  2. Place the chicken pieces in a pie dish.

  3. If you have cold gravy, add it to the dish; otherwise, place chicken bones in a saucepan with enough water to make gravy.

  4. Season with pepper, coarse sea salt, and a pinch of mace.

  5. Boil until the flavor is extracted from the bones, then pour the liquid into the dish.

  6. Cover with pie crust and bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes.
