Baked Tomatoes

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes and let them sit for one hour.

  2. Peel the tomatoes and layer them in a pie dish.

  3. Season with pepper and coarse sea salt, then sprinkle with fine bread crumbs and add pieces of butter.

  4. Repeat the layering process until the dish is filled.

  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for one hour.
