What each ingredient does

Spaghetti
Forms the bulk of the salad and gives it a tender, chewy base.
Hard boiled eggs
Add richness and a soft, creamy texture to the salad.
Sharp cheese
Adds savory, tangy flavor and a little richness.
Salad dressing
Provides moisture and fat that bind the salad and carry its flavor.
White potato
Adds starchy body and a soft texture that absorbs some dressing.

The step that matters

Drying the spaghetti after cooling. Excess water left on cold pasta dilutes the dressing and makes the salad watery and loose, so the pasta should be patted or towel-dried before mixing.

Swap the white pepper

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (potato, egg, celery, cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce):

  1. Thymefits better
  2. Tarragonfits better
  3. Parsleyfits better
