A Plain Apple Pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Fill a pie crust with sliced apples, making it at least 1 inch thick.

  2. Add a little water to the apples and cover with a richer top crust.

  3. To make the top crust, roll out part of the same dough, cover it with bits of butter, fold it, and roll it out again, repeating this 2-3 times.

  4. Cut a few slits in the top crust to let steam escape while baking.

  5. Brush the top with beaten egg yolk.

  6. Bake the pie until golden brown.

  7. Once baked, carefully lift off the top crust while still hot.

  8. Add sugar, nutmeg, and a little butter to the apples and mix well.

  9. Replace the top crust and dust it with powdered sugar.
