Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Gelatine
Sets the liquid mixture into a firm, sliceable jelly as it cools.
Cream
Adds richness and a soft, light texture when whipped into the custard.
Custard
Provides the base flavor and creamy body of the dessert.
Sugar
Adds sweetness to balance the custard and cream.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatine gently over low heat. Gelatine can be damaged by strong heat and may fail to set properly if it boils or overheats. Gentle heat dissolves it fully so it sets evenly throughout the custard.
