Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Red raspberries
Provide the main fruit flavor and color for the vinegar and juice.
Vinegar
Extracts flavor from the raspberries and adds the tart acidity that balances the sweetness.
Sugar
Sweetens the juice and thickens it into a syrup that helps preserve the mixture.

The step that matters

Boiling the juice and sugar for 20 minutes. Boiling concentrates the juice and dissolves the sugar fully. Enough sugar and reduction give the syrup body and help it keep well when bottled.

Swap the raspberry

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (vinegar, sugar):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Pineapplefits about as well
  4. Raspberrythe original
