Beef Steak Pot-pie

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Remove fat and bone from the beef steaks and cut into small pieces.

  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then place in a pot with the butter and enough water to cover.

  3. Stew the beef slowly, skimming off any foam when the water boils, for 1 hour.

  4. Boil the potatoes in another pot until tender, then cut into quarters.

  5. In a bowl, mix the minced suet with flour and a little salt, adding just enough water to form a dough.

  6. Divide the dough into two portions; roll one portion thicker than the other.

  7. Line the sides of a clean iron pot with the thinner dough, then add a little gravy.

  8. Layer in half the stewed beef, followed by squares of the thicker dough.
