Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Beef
Provides rich meaty flavor and body to the broth as it simmers.
Tripe
Adds a chewy texture that becomes tender with long simmering.
Potatoes
Thicken the soup slightly and add starchy body as they cook.
Onion
Builds savory aromatic depth as it softens in the broth.

The step that matters

Add the dumplings and beef only once everything is thoroughly cooked. Dumplings need enough simmering time to cook through in the broth, while the beef is already cooked and can overcook and toughen if boiled too long.
