Sugar Gingerbread

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.

  3. Add the egg, milk, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; mix well.

  4. Gradually add flour until the dough is thin enough to roll out.

  5. Roll out the dough and cut it into squares.

  6. Place the squares on a baking sheet and bake until golden.
