Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Vanilla beans
Provide the vanilla flavor and aroma that infuse into the sugar.
Granulated sugar
Carries the vanilla flavor and absorbs its aromatic oils as it is stored.

Swap the beans

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (vanilla, sugar, cream):

  1. Chestnutfits better
  2. Almondfits better
  3. Hazelnutfits better
  4. Beansthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against vanilla, sugar, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
